Psalm 27:4 AMPC … One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.

Solid Rock of Truth

April 9, 2016

The Two Foundations

Matthew 7:24-27 NLT … “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

From Our Daily Bread Build a House, Lessons, Right Foundation:

The wise man builds his house on rock
Instead of sinking sand
By doing what the Builder says
And following His plan
For when the storms of life descend
That house will surely stand.

INSIGHT:
Jesus had just finished giving His “Sermon on the Mount” when He used the analogy found in today’s passage. His teachings provide a stable foundation that will weather any storm. The wind, the rain, and the house are not the problem. The house built on the sand fell down because the sand provided no support in the wind and rain. The wind and rain washed and blew away the foundation so that there was nothing to support the house. Even the best house will crumble with no foundation.

The wise man builds his house upon the Rock.

.

Lord, help me stand firm upon Your rock of  Truth and never trust myself to sinking sand.

Open Wide Your Mouth!

December 31, 2015

Psalm 81:10 NLT … For it was I, the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.

Think about baby birds. When they are ready to eat, they open their mouths wide. They trust that they will be fed. They look and long for it. They expect it.

We should be the same. We need to keep our spiritual mouths open and expect the goodness of God to fill and satisfy us.

Psalm 119:131 NLT … I open my mouth, panting expectantly, longing for Your commands.

Long for and pant expectantly after the Lord’s commands
To be pleasing in His sight –Eph 5:8-10;He 11:6;Ro 12:1-2, 8:8

Lord, I open my mouth, panting expectantly, longing for Your commands. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. –Ps 119:131;Ps 19:14

From NetBible Ps 81:10

  • BBE … … let your mouth be open wide, so that I may give you food.

From NetBible Ps 103:5

  • BBE … He makes your mouth full of good things, so that your strength is made new again like the eagle’s.

From NetBible Mt 4:4

Nahum 1:7 AMP
The Lord is good, a Strength and Stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows (recognizes, has knowledge of, and understands) those who take refuge and trust in Him.

From NetBible Nahum 1:7

  • * The Lord is good to those who trust Him – seek His refuge
  • * The Lord is good to His people => because  like a fortress – He protects them in time of distress

Psalm 5:11-12 AMP… But let all those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because You make a covering over them and defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You and be in high spirits. 12 For You, Lord, will bless the [uncompromisingly] righteous [him who is upright and in right standing with You]; as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor).

Confidence in Christ

December 28, 2013

1 John 5:14 AMP … And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.

1 John 3:21-24 NASB … Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; 22 and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.

23 This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. 24 The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Jeremiah 17:7 AMP … [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.

Thank You Father that Your blessing is on the one who believes in, trusts in and relies on Your son Jesus Christ. I pray that You would give me a confident heart in Jesus Christ my Lord. Help me to do what is pleasing in Your sight. Amen.

.

Lord we don’t know what the future holds. Help me to place my hope and confidence in You, Jesus Christ my Lord. Help me to follow Your lead. Thank You that as I do this I will be blessed.

Trust in the Lord’s Faithfulness

November 13, 2013

Matthew 6:28-31 NKJV … Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 29 So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Psalm 89:8 AMP … O Lord God of hosts, who is a mighty one like unto You, O Lord? And Your faithfulness is round about You [an essential part of You at all times]. -Ps89:8 AMP

Thank You Lord Jesus for Your great faithfulness. Help me to remember that Your eye is on the sparrow and that You care for me. Praise You that Your faithfulness is an essential part of who You are at ALL times!

Small Faith Moves Mountains

November 10, 2013

Matthew 17:20 NKJV… So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Luke 17:5-6 … The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

Thank You Lord Jesus that if we believe in You, nothing is impossible! Help me to remember that even with a small amount of faith in You, the impossible becomes possible.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. -Eph 3:20-21

.

Thank You Lord Jesus that faith in You, even as small as a mustard seed, is enough to move mountains and do the impossible!

Faith in His Promises

October 1, 2013

From: 365 Promise – 273

Romans 4:20-21 AMP … No unbelief or distrust made him[Abraham] waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God; Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised.

Praise You Lord Jesus You are able! You have the ability and might to do ALL You have promised. Help me to endure and grow stronger as I give praise and glory to You, no matter how impossible the circumstances. Great is You faithfulness!

Hebrews 13:15 … Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.

Psalm 138:2 NLT … I bow before Your holy Temple as I worship. I will give thanks to Your name for Your unfailing love and faithfulness, because Your promises are backed by all the honor of Your name.

Strength for the Faint and Weary

June 12, 2013

Isaiah 40:29-31 AMP … He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted; But those who wait for{trust} the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
