Open Doors

September 8, 2015

Colossians 4:3-4 AMP
3 And at the same time pray for us also, that God may open a door to us for the Word (the Gospel), to proclaim the mystery concerning Christ (the Messiah) on account of which I am in prison; 4 That I may proclaim it fully and make it clear [speak boldly and unfold that mystery], as is my duty.

Matthew 7:7-8 AMP
7 Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.

Lord, we’re asking You to open doors for Your message, that Christ may be proclaimed fully and clearly. Thank You Lord that as we persist in seeking Your direction, You will open our eyes to see these doors. Let us hear Your voice clearly and follow Your lead. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

ASK
Image from: www.365promises.com

1 John 5:14 AMP
14 And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.

1 John 3:21-22 NASB
21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; 22 and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.

Colossians 1:9-10 AMP
9 For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things—

10 That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition].

Lord Jesus help us to be more concerned with what Your will, Your plan is than our own. Thank You that Your plans for us are always good!

Jeremiah 29:11-13 AMP
11 For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.
12 Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you.
13 Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Psalm 19:14 AMP
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.

Tender Hearted

February 2, 2013

2 Kings 22:19Because your heart was tender, and you have humbled yourself before the Lord, when you heard what I spoke against this place . . . I also have heard you, says the Lord

From NetBible 2Ki 22:19

  • Tender[07401] = to be soft, sensitive, penitent
  • Humbled[03665] = to be brought into subjection

Tender hearts are soft, pliable, sensitive and responsive to the Lord’s leading. They are like soft clay in the potter’s hand, allowing the potter to form whatever shape He desires. These are the hearts the Lord responds to and answers.

Psalm 37:3-4Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

From NetBible Ps 37:4

  • Delight[06026] = to be soft{pliable}, be delicate, be dainty
  • Desires[04862] = request, petition, prayers

*Faith and obedience (v. 3) will bring divine blessing (v. 4).

.
Colossians 4:6 AMP … Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and winsome), seasoned [as it were] with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you].

  • gracious[5485] = sweetness, pleasant, gratitude
    * of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy
influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens,
increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and
kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues
  • seasoned with salt[217] = prudence, wisdom and grace exhibited in speech
Praise You Lord Jesus, Your words are gracious, sweet, filled with wisdom, winsome and persuasive. Fill my heart and mouth with Your words, that my speech may be gracious and seasoned with salt. May my words be a savory invitation to know You, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Deuteronomy 32:2 … Let teaching drop like the rain, my speech distill as the dew, like rain droplets upon the new grass, and showers upon young plants.

  • teaching[03948] = learning, insight, instruction, teaching-power, persuasiveness

*the teaching/learning in view is the teaching/learning of spiritual truths from the Scriptures

Isaiah 55:10-11 AMP … For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Lord fill my heart and mouth with Your words. Let Your words fall like gentle rain or dew, pure and sweet. Praise You Lord Jesus, Your words do not return void. They will produce the effect You desire. Make us thirsty for You, Lord Jesus our Living word!
