Tender Hearted

2 Kings 22:19Because your heart was tender, and you have humbled yourself before the Lord, when you heard what I spoke against this place . . . I also have heard you, says the Lord

From NetBible 2Ki 22:19

  • Tender[07401] = to be soft, sensitive, penitent
  • Humbled[03665] = to be brought into subjection

Tender hearts are soft, pliable, sensitive and responsive to the Lord’s leading. They are like soft clay in the potter’s hand, allowing the potter to form whatever shape He desires. These are the hearts the Lord responds to and answers.

Psalm 37:3-4Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

From NetBible Ps 37:4

  • Delight[06026] = to be soft{pliable}, be delicate, be dainty
  • Desires[04862] = request, petition, prayers

*Faith and obedience (v. 3) will bring divine blessing (v. 4).

Clay
.

Lord help me to remember that You are my Father and I am the clay. Help my heart to be like clay, soft and pliable in Your hands. Let me be tenderhearted and responsive to the leading of Your Holy Spirit. Praise You Lord Jesus, You strengthen and strongly support those whose hearts are fully committed to You!

Isaiah 64:8O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And we all are the work of Your hand.

2 Chronicles 16:9 NLT … The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.

.

Lord, help us have soft pliable hearts, like clay in the hands of the Master potter. Allow us to be shaped into whatever You desire. Thank You that You look for and strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to You!

He is moulding us –
But remember for clay to be useful it must go through the fire – then it becomes a beautiful masterpiece!

.

Lord, help us surrender as clay to be moulded, shaped and brought through the fire by Your hand – for You are the Master Potter and we are the clay.

Colossians 1:9-10 AMP … For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things—

10 That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition].

Lord help us to be humble, tenderhearted, pliable as soft clay in Your hands. Place a strong desire in our hearts to please You in all things. Thank You that as we are responsive to Your Holy Spirit, You will shape us to be pleasing vessels in Your sight.

.

Lord fill us with the full knowledge of Your will in all wisdom, understanding and discernment of spiritual things. Help us to continually grow deeper in this knowledge
=> that we may walk in a manner that is worthy and pleasing to You, our Lord Jesus Christ.
