Prayers from the Beatitudes

From NetBible Matthew 5:3
*The term Blessed introduces the first of several beatitudes promising blessing to those whom God cares for. They serve as an invitation to come into the grace God offers.

Matthew 5:3Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Lord Jesus help us to be poor in spirit and realize our need for Your rule in our lives. Help us to humbly realize Your promise to have the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:4 … Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Lord Jesus when we mourn or suffer any kind of grief, help us to come to You and receive the comfort that only You can provide. Thank You that You will not leave us comfortless(Jn 14:18).

Matthew 5:5 … Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Lord Jesus help us to be meek and have a gentleness of spirit. Thank You that meekness means wholly relying on You and trusting You to defend us(meek[4239]). Help us to humbly realize Your promise to inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:6 ... Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Lord Jesus help us to hunger and thirst to see right prevail. Thank You that as we do this we will be filled with Your Holy Spirit and see right overcome wrong.

Matthew 5:7 ... Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Lord Jesus help us to reflect Your mercy and compassion. Thank You that as we do this we will experience Your unending mercy and compassion. Praise You Lord Jesus that GREAT is Your faithfulness!(Lam 3:23)

Matthew 5:8 … Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Lord Jesus help us to allow You to search our hearts and remove anything that is not pleasing in Your sight.(Ps 139:23-24;Ps 19:14) Thank You that the pure in heart have eyes to see You.

Matthew 5:9 … Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Lord Jesus help us to always spread Your peace wherever we go that we may be known as Your children. Thank You that Your peace is a peace beyond any circumstance and beyond our understanding(Phil 4:6-7).

Matthew 5:10-12Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Lord Jesus help us to endure persecution for Your names’ sake; to be strong and stand in the power of Your might(Eph 6:10). Help us to humbly realize Your promise to have the kingdom of heaven and know our reward in heaven is great.
